About Haddington

The Royal Burgh of Haddington is a town in East Lothian. Haddington is a small town with a population of less than 9,000, although at one time it was the fourth biggest city in Scotland after Aberdeen, Roxburgh and Edinburgh. Haddington is home to the junior football club Haddington Athletic. Haddington is also home to Haddington RFC, currently playing in Scotland Premiership Division Three. The John Gray Centre brings together East Lothian’s Archaeology, Museum, Archive and Local History Services, alongside Haddington’s branch library. A lively community and outreach programme augments these, both inside the Centre and around the region. Haddington also has a golf course and is one of many great courses in East Lothian like Muirfield, North Berwick West Links, North Berwick East Links, Gullane 1 - 2 - 3, Dunbar East Links, Dunbar West Llinks, Whitekirk, Musselburgh Old Course, Royal Musselburgh, Monktonhall, Kilspindie, Longniddry, Luftness, Gifford, Castlepark, Craigielaw and of course Haddington Golf Club which is a very good parkland course with water features in excellent condition. A par 71 - which is a very good test of golf believe me. The local Farmers' Market is held on the last Saturday of each month with Haddington Pipe Band playing regularly. Haddington is also famous for its Rugby, with the Under 18 Colts being one of the best teams in Scotland and frequently chosen by foreign touring teams to test their skills against. They have gained a reputation with other local towns for being an aggressive, physical and feared team to play. (Improve this description or add photos)
